Insurance
We are pleased to announce that with effect from 1/11/2008, the cost of
insuring your
valuable or fragile goods while in transit has decreased.
The premium for insuring goods is the greater of either:
Minimum £10.00
Or 2% of declared value.

Annual Tariff Increase.
Annual Tariff increases take effect in January of each year.
This increase is made in line with the retail price index at that time.

Volumetric Weight Surcharges and how they apply.
Volumetric weight surcharges apply
to shipments with a greater dimensional weight than their dead weight. The surcharge
is calculated differently for shipments that travel by air and those that travel
by road. To measure the volumetric weight of a shipment we ue the following calculation:
Length x Width x Height (cm) the sum of divided by 5000 = Volumetric Weight

New EU Member Countries
Bulgaria and Romania are now member countries of the EU.

USA Wood Packaging / Pallets Regulation.
US Regulations now govern the import of
wood packaging products and pallets.
Wood packaging must now be heat treated and proof marked accordingly. Associated Air
only uses regulated materials for packing your goods, contact Customer Services for help.

New EU Members.
There are now 10 new members to the European Union.
At this moment
non-document shipments to these countries still require formal Commercial Invoices,
but otherwise shipping to these countries will now be as straight forward as sending
to other free trade member states. VAT is now chargeable on services to these countries.
The new member countries are as follows:
Estonia. Latvia. Lithuania. Poland. Czech
Republic. Slovakia. Hungary. Slovenia. Malta. Cyprus.

US Food Regulations.
New laws governing the importation of foodstuffs into the US
are now effective.
The regulations have been passed under the Bio-terrorism Act.

US Docs / Dox Declaration.
Documents sent to the US can no longer be declared as ‘docs’
or ‘dox’ and must now clearly state the nature or purpose of the document, for example
Formal Tender / Legal Document.
